Silver Linings
To say that this has been a hard time for me is an understatement. It has been a hard time for everyone. One way to feel better about this change in our lives is to look on the bright side, the Silver Linings.
I have been asking my mom and dad for a kitten for a long time. The answer has always been a flat “no.” But with these current changes my mom and dad finally said “YES!” Now I have my cute kitten named Millie. She snuggles with me and makes me feel better, and now I’m her person. She is black tabby. She loves the outdoors and likes to chase butterflies and birds. Our next door neighbor even got a new cat and now they are learning to be friends.
Another Silver Lining for me is my sister got to come home early from college and we got to spend a lot more time together. We went to the beach, got ice cream, and went on lots of hikes. She just left August 15th and has been sending a lot of pictures of school and her new place. We sent her a care package with lots of goodies. My mom even sent her tomatoes, lemons, and avocados from our garden.
Lastly, I have been spending more time with my entire family because I do not have water polo practice every night like I used to before. We have been watching lots of movies and eating dinner together. We went on lots of bike rides and I am seeing parts of my neighborhood that I did not know about. Did you know that there is a horse down the street on the corner?
Even though it has been a rough time for all of us, the Silver Linings are making it more manageable. There is a lot to learn from this time in our lives. As Michelle Obama often says, we can do hard things and come out the better for it.
